Found: 60's early primary construction machine stuck in basement

Book is about a bulldozer or similar construction equipment that digs a basement for a new build. It gets stuck in the hole so the decision is made to build the home/building around the machine. The piece of equipment becomes the "furnace" for the new build and the operator maintains it.

US. 1960's. early primary level.
