Hello! I am look for a book I read in middle school in the mid 2000s ish. I have pretty vague memories of it but it was about a little girl who was the chosen one/sacrifice for some kind of weird secret society that worshiped/was related to(?)some kind of octopus/kraken. I think(?) the name of the society was Ichthys/Ichtus or something along those lines and I remember one scene where the main character had a nightmare that her nose broke off, turned into a beak/needle that she plunged into the back of the neck of this creature they worshiped.
The cover was mainly brown and had some kind of detailed, colorful illustration on it.
I know it's not much to go on but any help would be appreciated!!
