For the first time ever - and we have been meeting up for over 10 years now - the Joplin meet up is not going to be held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. We are going to meet October 20, 2023 at 10:00AM at the Changing Hands Book Shoppe at 528 S Virginia, Joplin, MO.
I hope to see a bunch of you there! Everyone is invited to come! I will be there and my daughter Catey is joining me this year.

I forgot to mention that Changing Hands does have a website, in case anyone is interested: http://chbs.tgaming.org/
Changing Hands also sells board games :)

I hope to be in Kansas that week and taking a route back to Alabama through Joplin sounds like a good idea. As of now I am planning on being there.

>3 ronincats: Happy to help, Roni!
>4 benitastrnad: We would love to see you there, Benita! I am not sure how many people are going to be there this year as we missed last year for the first time ever, so we are kind of regrouping :)

I sent an email to Susie, the owner of Changing Hands, to let her know of the upcoming meet up and got an email back from her. She said it was good timing on our parts as she and her husband John would just be coming back from their annual vacation on October 17th.

I take it that everybody finds their own hotel room? Or do you try to stay in the same place? I am getting ready to make my travel plans.

I am planning on my usual day trip to Joplin on October 20. Not sure if Nancy will be coming with me this time. They are in the process of moving to a new residence. It’s a big job!
Thank you for keeping us together, Stasia. It will be fun to see you, Catey, and Terri…along with Roni and Benita…and anyone else who can make it.

>7 benitastrnad: Sorry, Benita, I just now saw your post!
>8 Donna828: I hope to see you both, Donna, but completely understand if Nancy cannot make it. I am not at all sure if Terri and Sandy are going to make it. I have reached out, but gotten no response.

There is still time to make plans for the Joplin meet up, which happens one week from today! I would love to see everyone there.

I'll be driving down from KC that morning with my friend Vickie.
Stasia, there were some books you recently commented that you wanted to read, not the Heechee ones on Lucy's thread. Maybe a series, either SF or fantasy. Can you think what it might be?

I am beginning to think that I will NOT be able to be at Joplin. It will depend on what happens with the nursing home visits this week.

>11 ronincats: Sounds good, Roni!
I think maybe the Robert Jackson Bennett series, The Divine Cities? That is the one that immediately springs to mind.
>12 benitastrnad: I am sorry to hear that, Benita.
Sorry for the late reply, ladies!
