Hello,
Can anyone help me find this book any author? For the life of me I can't remember the title or author but I remember the plot.
The main leading lady cares for her two younger sisters after their father's death (I remember that their father was a doctor). The eldest sister gave panio lessons to get by but they were struggling and on the brink of starvation and didn't have money to pay their creditors. That is how the book starts, as the leading lady runs away from the coal man who is chasing her as she owes him for her bill. She runs into a tavern and hides under a table, sitting on a wealthy earl (or Lord's) foot. That is where the leading lady and leading man first meet. The leading lady is friends with a retired mistress and through talking with her she comes up with becoming a wealthy man's mistress to find financial security for her and to be able to take care of her sisters.
However, she has to learn how to become a mistress so she asks the leading man to teach her how to become a mistress and in the art of seduction. Of course they end up falling in love. Also, I remember that there was a lecherous older man (he was a big man who had a reputable job in the town) who was in love with the leading lady and wanted to marry her and he catches her with the leading man and he becomes jealous and would try to kill her.
This is a historical romance novel, I just can't remember the author or title. If any of you can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
