On arrival, Poirot finds that his presence is unexpected, and Sir Gervase is missing. A search soon discovers his remains in his study, he looks to have shot himself. Poirot investigates and discovers that is is murder made to look like suicide. Suspects include the eccentric wife, his adopted daughter, her cousin Hugo, a secretary helping Chevenix research a family history and other guests. Everyone heard a shot but no one suspected that anything was wrong, believing that either a car had backfired or champagne was being served. ( ) This is a collection of three Poirot short stories or novellas: "Dead Man's Mirror", "Murder in the Mews", and "Triangle at Rhodes." Of the three, Triangle was my favourite; Mirror went on too long and Mews didn't have Hastings in it, unlike the TV adaptation (which made the TV adaptation much more fun). Still, I'm pretty much always happy to read a Poirot, so it was not the worst way to spend my reading time. no reviews | add a review
