This was made even better by my being joined by nine of my good friends from LibraryThing for the first group read that we have had in 2 long years, and what a gem we picked to start our monthly read again!! I have always loved the bonds that exists between the members of Sigma. The group is still growing with the addition of Tucker, an ex-military man and Kane, his military war dog. James Rollins always leaves some interesting questions at the end of his books, and he hasn't lessened the emotional fallout any in this one. A mysterious Templar Knight rescues a staff from a man much older than he ought to be. This knight is not all she appears--and she leaves no witnesses. Then we jump to modern day. A young pregnant American woman is kidnapped, her husband brutally murdered by Somali prates. But this woman isn't your average tourist either though she's traveling on a fake passport. She's the daughter of the President of The United States. James Rollins expertly weaves science and adventure flawlessly, mixing with high-concept DNA and PNA in a manner that is accessible to everyone, not just those with a scientific background. The action flows from Somalia to Dubai, to South Carolina. There were some excellent and some very unexpected twists and turns throughout. Just when we thought we had had all the shocks and surprises, Mr. Rollins hits us with a subplot that came as more of a shock than any of the previous ones. I hope that will be addressed in the next book. James Rollins has another 5 star winner here. ( ) I love stories written by James Rollins! He’s one of my go to authors, but Blood Line just doesn’t get there for me. I’ve been attempting to get through this story for a long time! I’m finally admitting defeat, it just refuses to draw me in. I wanted to love it, after all the Sigma Force stories are ordinarily excellent! Very typical Rollins. It's probably just me, but I'm getting tired of the Sigma Force clan. I really wish Rollins would go back to his roots and put out something a little more original. I know he can, but this business is about making money, not being creative. I guess we're stuck with Sigma Force. The extra star (3 instead of 2) is because I liked the addition of Tucker and his dog. Hired mercenaries in the form of Somali pirates kidnap the pregnant daughter of the President, who is on the run. She carries the bloodline, and Sigma is asked to rescue her. First, they recruit a former Army Ranger (Tucker Wayne) and his war dog (Kane), who are a formidable pair. All of Sigma Force is activated, both domestically and overseas to unravel a truly evil plot. Fast paced, lots of bad guys and machines, with a few surprises, one especially interesting one about Seichan. Typical Rollins.......in a good way. The story line that has been going for the last several books continues and more is learned about the "bad guys". Set up for the next one..........should be good. This one introduced a new character and his canine companion......expect to see more of them in future books. no reviews | add a review
